Residents of Lewiston, Maine, tell tales of a foul-smelling, evil-looking creature with glowing red eyes that haunts the Maine woods, preying on cats, dogs, and livestock.
In August 2006, a Maine resident found a strange animal dead by the side of the road, about a week after she saw it in her yard. Subsequent DNA testing proved it to be a dog,
but the Maine Mystery Beast legend is larger than one mistaken sighting. Here is the legend in all its glory!
